Hi, I'm Mert.

I'm a Computer Engineer, but most of what I've actually learned happened in production, when something broke. I've spent close to three years at Turkish Technology working with Linux and Oracle WebLogic infrastructure — a good chunk of most days goes into answering 'why did this just go down.'

When I approach a system, I focus on understanding the whole before diving into details: once I see how the pieces fit together, I trace the problem down to its root cause, build a fix, test it, and keep iterating. Getting something to work isn't enough for me — I want to understand why it works, and when it's going to break.

I especially enjoy spotting manual or improvable processes and turning them into practical solutions that make life easier for users and teams: I automate repetitive work with Python, Bash, and Ansible, and I've reworked our Grafana/Prometheus/AWX setup to cut down alert noise.

I carry the same habit into the web projects I build myself: writing security-hardened backends, caring about real-user performance data, and — in my thesis project — applying Zero-Trust principles to a RAG system.

I try to bring together the different perspectives my Business Administration and Computer Engineering degrees gave me — alongside the technical solution itself, I care just as much about the value it creates and its impact on the process.

I was born and raised in Istanbul, I'm a Fenerbahçe fan, and I went to Nişantaşı Nuri Akın Anadolu Lisesi for high school. Outside of work I enjoy riding motorcycles, and these days I'm reading The Dispossessed.
